What is Hydrogen Peroxide?
Hydrogen peroxide is chemically known as H2O2. Aside from being a powerful
oxygenator and oxidizer, a unique quality of hydrogen peroxide is the
ability to readily decompose into water and oxygen.
Hydrogen peroxide must be present for our immune systems to function
properly. The cells in the body that fight infection (the class of white
blood cells known as granulocytes) produce hydrogen peroxide as a first
line of defense against harmful parasites, bacteria, viruses, and fungi.
Hydrogen peroxide is also needed for the metabolism of protein, carbohydrates,
fats, vitamins and minerals. It is a by-product of cell metabolism,
a hormonal regulator and a necessary part of the body's production of
estrogen, progesterone, and thyroxin. Furthermore, hydrogen peroxide
is involved in the regulation of blood sugar and the production of energy
in the body cells.
How Hydrogen Peroxide Works
The chemical reaction looks like this:
.H2O2 --> H2O + O
This means that in the body hydrogen peroxide is converted to water
and singlet oxygen. This singlet oxygen is a powerful oxidizing agent.
It is the active agent in hydrogen peroxide therapy.
The effect of singlet oxygen in the human body is two-fold:
1) It kills, or severely inhibits the growth of anaeobic organisms
(bacteria that use carbon dioxide for fuel). This action is immediate,
on contact with the anaerobic organism. Anaerobic bacteria are pathogens,
the organisms which cause disease.
2) It provides singlet oxygen which in turn transforms biological waste
products and industrial toxins into inert substances by oxidizing them.
This makes them easy to be handle for the kidneys and liver. It doubles
the rate of enzymatic metabolism in the mitochondria within each cell
thus enabling the body to cleanse itself of toxins and still have energy
to handle normal life functions.
In many of the conditions that hydrogen peroxide treats, there is a
component of toxicity from substances like accumulated pesticides, preservatives,
and organic industrial pollutants. Often clearing these toxins is enough
to allow the body to heal itself. H2O2 and Cancer Nobel Prize winner
Dr. Otto Warburg discovered in 1966 that the key precondition for the
development of cancer is a lack of oxygen at the cellular level. A cancer
cell needs 60% less oxygen than a normal healthy cell, and does very
poorly in the presence of excess oxygen Therefore, cancer cells may
be destroyed in a high oxygen environment created by infusion of hydrogen
peroxide into the bloodstream.
Hydrogen peroxide is antineoplastic, which means that it inhibits the
growth of new tissues like tumors.
H2O2 increases the production of interferon and tumor necrosis factor,
which the body uses to fight infections and cancers.
Cancers cells become more sensitive to irradiation in the presence of
increased oxygen tension produced by H2O2 .
H2O2 contributes to the lysis (destruction) of tumor cells by macrophages
and granulocytes.
H2O2 and Lung Diseases
Intravenous hydrogen peroxide works particularly well with emphysema,
asthma, and chronic lung disease. It works by cleaning the lungs -it
produces oxygen bubbles in the alveoli (tiny air sacs in the lungs)
and lifts mucous deposits out so they can be coughed out. It takes some
time for changes to occur in chronic conditions -at least ten treatments.
Bio-Oxidative Therapies.
Using the principles of oxidation to bring about improvements in the
body is known as bio-oxidative therapy. While aerobic-type exercises;
deep, rhythmic breathing; and high oxygen foods (like fresh fruits and
vegetables) promote the normal oxidation process in the body, two natural
elements -ozone and hydrogen peroxide -are among the most powerful oxidizers
available.
The medical potential for bio-oxidative therapies is based on the relationship
of oxygen to human cells. When levels of oxygen increase, the potential
for disease decreases. When large amounts of oxygen flood the body,
germs, parasites, fungi, bacteria, and viruses are killed along with
diseased and deficient tissue cells. At the same time, healthy cells
not only survive but are better able to multiply. The result is a stronger
immune system and improved overall immune response.
A Typical Treatment
Hydrogen peroxide is infused into a vein in the arm. It drips over a
90 min- 2 hour period. Pharmaceutical grade 0.03% hydrogen peroxide
is used for treatments.
For optimal results. you should not eat anything for at least 20 minutes
after a hydrogen peroxide treatment.
Several treatments are necessary for the treatment of chronic conditions.
Usually, a series of at least ten treatments are recommended, spacing
a week apart.
H2O2 With Other Therapies
Hydrogen peroxide has been proven to dissolve plaque in large arteries.
This makes H2O2 an effective complement to EDTA chelation therapy. In
the treatment of vascular disease, EDTA has been shown to clear small
vessels and create collateral circulation around large vessel blockages.
The combination of H2O2 and EDTA chelation therapy is know as Chelox
Therapy.
