Ozone Therapy
What is Ozone?
Ozone is an elemental form of oxygen occurring naturally in the earth's
atmosphere, It is created in nature when ultraviolet energy causes oxygen
atoms to temporarily recombine in groups of three, Ozone is also formed
by the action of electrical discharges on oxygen, so it is often created
by thunder and lightening, Because it is made up of three oxygen atoms,
Ozone is known chemically as O3
Since ozone is unstable and quick to react, it is a powerful oxidizing
agent. Also, it can kill a wide variety of viruses, bacteria. It also
oxidizes phenolics (poisonous compounds of methanol and benzine), pesticides,
detergents, chemical manufacturing wastes, and aromatic compounds. For
this reason, ozone has been used to disinfect and purify drinking water
and waste water, A sufficiency of oxygen in the blood means better blood,
better circulation, better assimilation, better equilibrium of body
temperature, better vasomotor activity, better digestion, better elimination
of waste products, less chance of autointoxication or toxemia, and less
chance of infection and disease.
Today the largest commercial use of ozone is in the purification of
water. Both the FDA and EPA certify ozone as destroying 99,9992% of
all pathogenic germs. while oxidizing (destroying) 99,9992% of all pollutants
in the water at the same time. Ozone has been used since the 1950's
in Germany by physicians to treat a variety of conditions. Today, some
eight thousand licensed health practitioners (including medical doctors,
homeopathic physicians, and naturopaths) in Germany use ozone in their
practices, while some fifteen thousand European practitioners use ozone
either alone or as a compliment to other therapies.
How Ozone Works
Ozone primarily works by releasing oxygen into the blood stream:
1. Inactivation of bacteria, viruses, fungi, yeast and protozoa: ozone
disrupts the integrity or the bacterial cell envelope through oxidation
of the phospholipids and lipoproteins.
2. Enhancement of circulation: In circulatory disease, the clumping
of red blood cells hinders blood flow through the small capillaries
and decreases oxygen absorption due to reduced surface area. Ozone reduces
or eliminates clumping and red cell flexibility is restored, along with
oxygen carrying ability. Ozone also oxidizes the plaque in arteries,
allowing the removal of the breakdown products, unclogging the blood
vessels.
3. Dissolution of malignant tumors: Ozone inhibits tumor metabolism.
In addition, ozone oxidizes the outer lipid layer of malignant cells
and destroys them through
cell lysis.
4. Activation of the immune system: Administration of ozone causes an
increase in the production of interferon, interleukin TNF (tumor necrosis
factor), and interleukin
Ozone and Cancer
The German biochemist Dr. Otto Warburg discovered the cause of cancer
in 1923. He demonstrated that when the level of oxygen available to
the cell drops below 40% of normal, the cell, in order to survive, begins
to ferment the sugar anaerobically. The regulatory mechanisms on cell
replication are shut off, and the cell begins to make copies of itself
wildly. The growth of cancer cells is supported by fermentation which
can be initiated only in the relative absence of oxygen. In order to
prevent such a reaction, we must find ways of getting more oxygen to
all our cells to prevent the initiation of the fermentation process.
Ozone has been shown to selectively inhibit the growth of cancer cells.
There is no growth inhibition of normal cells because cancer cells are
less able to compensate for the oxidative burden of ozone than other
cells.
